About Us
Specializing in accelerated classes, ESL, Korean Culture, and Performing
Arts in a safe and secure educational environment!
Wilshire Private School prides itself on offering a quality education second to
none. We offer a strong academic program designed to pull information from a wide
variety of sources in order to fully enhance our academics. As a part of these academics,
teachers work to ensure that students keep up, understand, learn, and retain materials.
This is done through a series of learning techniques designed to reach both the
individual and the group. Wilshire Private School also works towards the development
of the "character" of our students. Through a series of programs, projects, and
special activities, students, teachers, and parents all work together to create
a well- educated, well- rounded, ethically responsible student. Our faculty is dedicated
to these goals.
History and Philosophy
Wilshire Private School was founded in 1985 by the Korean Institute of Southern
California for the express purpose of offering a K-6 quality academic education
enhanced with courses in the arts. Wilshire Private School was not only founded
to serve the Korean Community, but all communities and as such, we welcome students
of any cultural background. Our learning community flourishes in a well-located
and safe environment conducive to well-rounded educational achievement. Small class
size and individualized attention contribute strongly to positive growth among our
students. Wilshire Private School has the strong positive support of faculty and
parents. Finally, and most importantly, Wilshire Private School has a strong professional
administration dedicated to the successes of the Wilshire Private School Community.
Mission Statement
Wilshire Private School, in concert with the goals of The Korean Institute of Southern
California, provides students with a rigorous and balanced academic and fine arts
curriculum while instilling global cultural respect, productive citizenship, and
responsible behavior. (This mission statement is currently being reworked by representatives
of the Korean community and related WPS parents within the WPS community.)
Our Mission Statement presently encompasses the entire student as he/she acts within
a global society as it relates to the Korean culture, as an elite group of students
empowered by their educational background destined for success.
Wilshire Private School School is committed to equipping our students with the tools
they need for academic, personal and social achievement within a Korean environment.
We enable every student to reach their highest potential by establishing a curriculum
that meets or exceeds government standards for education; providing extracurricular
programs that develop children’s’ mental, physical and social skills; and partnering
with parents and the community to create an environment geared to the success of
our students.
